Ham and Cheese Scones

Deliciously warm and cheesy scones with savory bits of ham, perfect for breakfast or a quick snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, cold
  • 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until pea-sized chunks remain.
  4. Stir in the cheese and ham.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs, then mix into the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. Plop the dough onto a baking sheet and shape it into a circle. Cut into 8 wedges.
  7. Space the wedges and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until golden and puffed.
  8. Enjoy warm, ideally with butter or as a breakfast sandwich.
