  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs For maximum crunch.
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour For initial dredging.
  • 2 large Eggs To create a binding agent.
  • 2 tablespoons Oil For coating.
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun spice or desired seasoning For flavoring before cooking.

Preparation
  1. Select your onion variety and cut them into rings.
  2. Dust the onion rings with seasoned flour to absorb moisture.
  3. Prepare an egg wash by beating the eggs; mix in buttermilk or hot sauce for extra flavor.
  4. Coat the floured onion rings in the egg wash.
  5. Finally, coat the onion rings with panko breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  2. Place the coated onion rings in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  3. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces such as spicy mayo, classic ranch, or tangy BBQ glaze.

Notes

For softer caramelized onions, cook at a lower temperature with a bit more oil, stirring occasionally.
