Method
Cooking the Filling
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook until browned, then drain excess fat.
- Allow the beef mixture to cool slightly, then mix in shredded cheese.
Assembling the Roll
- Roll out the dough and spread beef and cheese mixture down the center.
- Fold the sides of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Place the roll seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
Baking
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature is at least 160°F (71°C).
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use certified gluten-free dough. To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
