Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Shells
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Pure maple syrup Preferably Grade A Dark, Robust Taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon Adds warmth and depth
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg Enhances the maple flavor
For the Creamy Filling
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Also known as confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 cup Pure maple syrup For authentic flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Milk or cream Adjust for desired consistency

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and maple syrup until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg, mixing until just combined.
  4. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes using a maple leaf cookie cutter.
Baking
  1. Place the cut-out cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are light golden and the centers are just set.
  3. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Filling Assembly
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the softened butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread or pipe the filling onto the flat side of one cookie and top it with another cookie to make a sandwich.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For variations, try adding different spices or fillings.
