  • 1 cup milk Can use low-fat or dairy alternatives.
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese Optional; can substitute with other types of cheese.
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup Plus more for serving.
  • Butter or oil for greasing To grease the baking dish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust based on preference.

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  4. Spread sausage evenly across the bottom of the casserole dish.
  5. Pour prepared pancake batter over the sausage layer.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  7. Pour egg mixture on top of the pancake layer.
  8. Sprinkle cheese if using.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  10. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use a toothpick to check for doneness; if it comes out clean, it's ready! Customize with add-ins like bacon, vegetables, or different cheeses.
