Ingredients

For the Paneer
  • 400 grams Paneer, cubed Use firm paneer for best results.
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch For coating the paneer before frying.
For the Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Honey Preferably a light, floral honey.
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 juice Lemon Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
For Serving
  • 2 cups Jasmine rice Cooked according to package instructions.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cubing the paneer and patting it dry. This helps to achieve a crispier texture.
  2. Dust the paneer cubes with cornstarch evenly and ensure each piece is coated well.
Cooking the Paneer
  1. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
  2. Once the pan is hot, add in the paneer cubes and fry them until they are golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Making the Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium, add honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice.
  2. Mix well and allow the sauce to simmer for a couple of minutes until slightly thickened.
Combining
  1. Add the fried paneer back into the skillet with the sauce.
  2. Toss gently to coat the paneer with the sauce, being careful not to break the pieces.
Serving
  1. Serve the Sweet and Sour Honey Lemon Paneer hot over a bed of fluffy jasmine rice.

Notes

For a nutty twist, drizzle some lemon tahini sauce over the rice. Ensure the pan is not overcrowded while frying to maintain crispiness.
