Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Don't overmix to keep the brownies fudgy.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Optional.
Tiramisu Topping
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese Can substitute with cream cheese, add extra sugar for flavor.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee Let it cool before using.

Method
 

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium bowl and stir in cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Add granulated sugar and mix well, followed by the eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold in the flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Making the Tiramisu Layer
  1. In a separate bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and brewed espresso, mixing until smooth.
  2. Spread the mascarpone mixture over the cooled brownies and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
Serving
  1. Slice brownies with a hot knife for clean cuts and serve.

Notes

You can substitute cream cheese for mascarpone if desired. For a gluten-free option, use a cup-for-cup flour substitute.
