  • 1/4 cup liqueur (Marsala wine, rum, or coffee liqueur) Optional, adjust based on taste
For the Mascarpone Cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese Use high-quality mascarpone for best results
  • 3 large eggs Preferably pasteurized for safety
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust to personal sweetness preference
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor
For Assembly
  • 1 package Italian ladyfingers (savoiardi) Enough to create a couple of layers
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder For dusting on top

Method

Prepare the Coffee Dip
  1. Brew strong espresso or coffee and allow it to cool.
  2. Mix in liqueur if desired.
Make the Mascarpone Cream
  1. Separate egg yolks and beat them with sugar until pale and thick.
  2. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Carefully fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
Assemble the Tiramisu
  1. Quickly dip ladyfingers into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are moist but not soggy.
  2. Layer dipped ladyfingers in a rectangular or square dish.
  3. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  4. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  5. Smooth the top layer with a spatula and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, preferably overnight.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Dust the top with cocoa powder before serving.
  2. Optionally, add chocolate shavings or coffee beans for decoration.

Notes

Allowing the Tiramisu to chill overnight enhances the flavors and texture. Avoid over-soaking the ladyfingers to prevent sogginess.
