Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 3 ½ cups 3 ½ cups (450g) bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F or 43°C)
Add-ins
  • 1 cup 1 cup vegan cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2-3 pieces 2-3 fresh jalapeños, finely diced Remove seeds for less heat
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add warm water and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Incorporate shredded vegan cheddar and diced jalapeños.
  4. Cover and let dough rest for 12-18 hours at room temperature.
Shaping
  1. Transfer the risen dough to a floured surface and shape into a loaf.
  2. Let it rest for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
Baking
  1. Transfer dough into the heated Dutch oven and cover it, baking for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
Cooling
  1. Let cool for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Notes

Use a thermometer to check water temperature for yeast activation. For a spicier loaf, keep the seeds of the jalapeños.
