Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add warm water and mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Incorporate shredded vegan cheddar and diced jalapeños.
- Cover and let dough rest for 12-18 hours at room temperature.
Shaping
- Transfer the risen dough to a floured surface and shape into a loaf.
- Let it rest for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
Baking
- Transfer dough into the heated Dutch oven and cover it, baking for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
Cooling
- Let cool for at least 1 hour before slicing.
Notes
Use a thermometer to check water temperature for yeast activation. For a spicier loaf, keep the seeds of the jalapeños.
